London (mainly) early 1800s.

Interesting beginning. Hero and Heroine are both spies for Britain, but neither one knows the other is until they are both forced into retirement. (A little convienent for my taste.)

So although they have been married for a while, their true life together doesn't begin until now. It made me wish for a bit more of the "pre-story", but I did like the relationship development between the two.

The heroine is a true kick-booty girl who doesn't need to be rescued, and the hero is the typical Bond-type hero trying to help anyway.

While I liked the story well enough, I just kept picturing Mr. & Mrs. Smith (Angelina and Brad Pitt). I wish the heroine could've been a little less rambo, but it wasn't reason enough to not like the book.

I generally like Galen, so I will continue to recommend this book, but don't move it to the top of the TBR pile.
