Rhodes Breeding Farm is in big trouble and the owner, Tiffany Rhodes, doesn't know what to do. After years of successfully breeding Thoroughbred horses, Tiffany's husband Ellery Rhodes was killed in an accident along with their prize horse Devil's Gambit who was thought to be the next Kentucky Derby winner. Now after four years of grueling work to make the breeding farm profitable again, several newborn foals have died hours after being born. No one knows what is causing these deaths. Suddenly a stranger shows up at the farm offering to buy out Tiffany. She doesn't know what to make of Zane Sheridan or his claim that Devil's Gambit did not die in the auto accident...and her husband may also be alive.

This book has been lingering in my stash of old category romances for years. I'm working on some reading challenges and needed to read a book by Lisa Jackson, so I picked this one up. It was a typical 1980's category romance. Tiffany and Zane fall in love after approximately 30 hours of meeting each other. He leaves to get more information about Devil's Gambit, but doesn't share with her why he is leaving. She just has to trust him...sigh. Why can't these people just have a discussion? The romance was unexceptional, but I did enjoy the mini-mystery about the dead foals. My rating: 3 Stars.
