From School Library Journal
PreS?Toddlers rejoice! Tom and his beloved monkey are back for another backyard adventure. When Tom rides his tricycle, Pippo always wants to come along; whenever they hit a bump, the toy goes flying. When the youngster's older friend arrives, she has a beautiful new two-wheeler with a special seat for her bear. Just as Tom is looking glum and concluding that "Stephanie's bike is much better than mine," the girl, wise beyond her years, devises a wonderful solution. Oxenbury's trademark watercolor-and-pencil art delightfully reflects this sweet little boy's emotions?his love for his stuffed companion, his envy of the bigger bike, and his innocent awe of Stephanie. The simple images, large print, and small format are especially attractive to the youngest of readers. An ideal step up from board books to picture books.?Lisa S. Card catalog description
Because his toy monkey Pippo keeps falling off the back of his bike, Tom envies Stephanie for having a big new bike with a passenger seat at the back.
