I have read this book many times and enjoyed it. I have learned something new from

it every time. I shows how the Civil War impacted both mentally and physically the south and the border states.

How loyalities were divided, not only to the South; but to families and

friends. This is the 2nd book, "Dawn's Early Light" is the start of the series and gives

an outline of the main characters. There are 7 books in the series. This series is

just right for middle to high school age.
