"Arron Gale is six years old, a sunny little boy who likes comic books and worships his older brother, C.J. One bright November day, in a shopping mall parking lot, Aaron disappears from the family car, vanishing without a trace.
Miles Gale, Aaron's father, is at first angry, then increasingly bewildered and frightened. C.J. is placed in foster care when Miles becomes the target of the police investigation. The authorities suspect that Miles killed his little son. After all, Aaron's mother, Marie, had also disappeared mysteriously, and C.J.'s mother had died unexpectedly. It's only natural to think Miles might be responsible.
C.J. holds the key to his father's and brother's salvation. C.J. is wiser than his years, gifted with intuition and courage. When he crosses into the brutal forest world to confront Marie, he knos he faces no ordinary woman. But he will do what must be done to save his family."
