I always find myself amazed at how many "Mrs. Jeffries" books I've read and enjoyed. Lately, it seems Ms. Brightwell has a penchant for Yuletide murders, and yes, this is another one.

Inspector Whiterspoon's staff goes to great lengths to ensure they are not seen investigating on his behalf. In this novel one even jumps out a window to avoid him, and others escape through French doors.

In most of these novels there are so many "main" suspects it isn't until the end when "Mrs Jeffries" lets us know who the murderer is. In this novel, something occurs early on that lets you know it will confirm who the murderer is. But then it is ignored for most of the book, until about 40 pages from the end when a character refers to it. Then the chase is on!
