I read this as a favor to my wife to preview it for our young daughter. This whole series feels like harlequin romance lite. As long as you read this book knowing its intended audience is teenage girls whose hormones demand the admiration and worship of men as gods, it's a good book. Take out a third of the ushy-gushy blubbering hero worship of Edward and it's a really good book. I realize the internal struggle and mental anguish that Bella endures, is part of the draw of the book. It's the framework that the storyline is written around that keeps you reading. The mantra that Edward is a god, however, gets old after three books.

The storyline really gets fleshed out with this book. The characters grow and become more real and believable in many aspects. Ms. Meyer's writing style seems to improve with every book and this one is no exception. Overall I found this an easy read that generally held my interest well. In my opinion, however, I wouldn't recommend the book to any girls younger than 13 or 14 years old.
