I have tried about a dozen recipes so far from this cookbook, and I have had rave reviews. It doesn't disappoint. This book is an essential item for the home cook who likes to make soups from scratch. The instructions are easy to follow, and there are even sections on how to make different types of stock and soup garnishes, so you can really have a truly beautiful, homemade soup. I tried out the sausage and seafood gumbo with friends from the bayou, who certified its authenticity. The pictures are lovely, and the recipes from varying international menus. Other household favorites are Plantain and Corn; Squash, Bacon, and Swiss Cheese Soup, and Provencal Vegetable Soup.
