Take my heart, please! I haven't read anything by Dean Koontz for over 20 years, and now I remember why! This book, which follows a young man's journey into heart disease and a heart transplant, suffers from wordy proselytizing and overuse of a thesaurus. Why use a normal word that readers will recognize, when you can describe the lacy melaleucas (shrub from S.E. Australia, or describe cadaver art? Why is someone trying to kill the main character because he received a heart transplant? There are so many red herrings and dead ends to the story that finishing this book became problematic. The story unfolds very slowly with so much wordy musing that it becomes annoying. Truly an awful book!
