"Now that's a title!" sports columnist Bill Simmons says about what is, hands down, the most entertaining book by a sports legend. Wilt disses his enemies (Bill Russell, all of his coaches), praises his friends (Meadowlark Lemon, Richard Nixon) and congratulates himself fulsomely in virtually every paragraph. Particularly noteworthy are the sections describing a certain encounter with an airline stewardess mid-flight and the construction of Ursa Major, Wilt's groovily iconic 1970s bachelor pad, complete with purple shag carpet. (Subsequently owned by a "Simpsons" writer and a crazy Russian billionaire.) Bill Bradley's memoir may have more Ivy League literary polish, but it's no match for Wilt's larger-than-life exuberance.
