"Dale Harris's annual series of opera lectures at the Metropolitcan Museum usually sells out well before the opera season begins. The distinguished music critic is not only one of the country's foremost experts on opera he is also a dynamic and entertaining speaker who is passionate about his subject. Newly adapted for a wider audience available to the public for the first time on audio, here are four of his most popular Italian opera lectures. Taking each opera individiually, Harris examines 'The Barber of Seville', 'Madame Butterfly', 'Aida' and 'Lucia de Lammermoor' in terms of libretto, plot, music, composer, performance history and cultural background, using musical examples to clarify key points. Whether a fledgling enthusiast or a seasoned afficianado, your appreciation will be forever enhanced by these exuberant and insightful analyses."

I really enjoyed this audio a lot. It was very insightful and brought me a greater understanding of these individual operas.
