It's weird because the progression of the storylines when it comes to the keys and Risa's relationships were painfully slow, but at the same time I actually thought there was too much other things going on. It really didn't seem like this girl was going to catch a break which can leave you disheartened when reading.

Even though I really enjoy the mystery of a new case being thrown at Risa, I can't help but feel it diminishes the importance of finding the keys. It really makes it seem like they have all the time in the world to accomplish this task. So when the keys and portals become the reason Azriel and Risa can't be together; or that a million different groups of people want to torture and manipulate Risa; or the end of the world is coming, it almost seems weak.

I loved that finally a decision was reached with Lucian and Azriel. But I have to say it again, Risa doesn't make the best choices and is kind of an idiot when it comes to others. Wish she would utilize her team more instead of wanting to protect all the time.

It is action packed and a pretty fun read if you are a fan of the series. I enjoyed it but it's definitely not a standalone.
