A "Today's Book Club" choice; well-written, with interesting, complicated characters. A 21st century New Yorkers love story: the 'boy' (about 40) has health problems, a missing sister about whom he worries, and dreams that, despite early promise, have not come to fruition. The 'girl' - an old girlfriend about to jettison her current relationship - is a driven writer, who also has not quite yet made it, and realizes that she writes her best stuff when she cannibalizes her relationships and bases unattractive characters on the people she loves. Explores issues of honesty, trust, self-deception, intimacy and the conflict of all of those with 'art.'
