This is a beautiful story about a child of the Hiroshima tragedy, researched meticulously by a Japanese American minister. The story of Sadako is precious & sad, full of sickness & heartache. But her kind & giving spirit keeps her going at a time when most people would have given up. She affects so many others with her belief that if she folds one thousand paper cranes, then her wish to be healthy again will come true. And although she reaches her goal, she just keeps folding. This book is for Young Adults, which I didn't know when I read it. Well, some people might not classify me as young but I'm young at heart!
