Pub. in 1971, this tale about an oriental jungle village is unique and engrossing. Half and Half (so called because he is good half the time and bad the other half) must obey the King's orders and go to school (on a raft, so it can float from village to village). Giving in to his bad side, Half and Half almost drowns the whole school, but ends up obeying his good side in the end. The characterizations in this brief story are wonderful. Every page has bright, colorful, unusual illustrations which add greatly to the story.
