A travelogue of all things Scottish -- the countryside, the islands, the cars, the boats, the towns, the foods, and especially the whisky; intertwined with an autobiography of Iain Banks and his drinking buddies and their ladies and their escapades -- also mingled in with a writer's history of his works and experiences in publication. Published in 2003, it was the only non-fiction work in his bibliography and the autobiographical sections of this book are all the more interesting, given his death this June 2013.
