A nice love story about a rich Englishman with a disability and the stubborn Scottish woman who comes into his life at the right time. Lord Oriel worked as a spy for England during the Napoleonic War. He loses much of his sight to an assasin though he is not totally blind. He was able to keep his blindness a secret from everyone except her. However, he needs her help to manage his financial affairs, and she, although comes from a well-bred family, is poor and in need of the money he offers her if she is his secretary. The romance is quite tame, but it was still lovely nonetheless. I'm used to more details, but sometimes it's nice not to know everything that happens in the bedroom after the door closes.

There is a secondary story about spies during the Napoleonic War. I didn't find those sections all that interesting, but thrillers and espionage aren't my cup of tea. If you're looking for an unconventional love story then this is for you.
