Book Review of Young women in the world of race horses

Young women in the world of race horses

Until the 1950's, women employees at race tracks and thoroughbred horse farms were almost unheard of. But during the years since then, horse racing circles have become increasingly aware that thoroughbreds usually respond better to the ministrations of girls and women.
This book offers girls sound advice on how to go about landing a year-round or part-time job at a race track or horse farm. Larry Adler details the work, requirements, and advancement opportunities for a wide variety of positions open to young women today -- "hot walkers," grooms, exercisers, jockeys, trainers, and breeders. Included in the book are illuminating anecdotes about many of the young women who work nose to muzzle with their handsome four footed charges.
