This is one of the best books I have ever read on bipolar and severe depression. Karla Smith was such an illegent, loving, caring young lady.
She had planned to write a book on mental illnes and some of her excerpts were phenominal. She had a huge appetite for knowledge and always enrolled in such a variety of classes. The book tells her families struggle with the manic/depressive Karla. It is so well written, I felt like I knew all of them. I am passing my book on to friends, asking for it to be returned, however. It is a book I want to keep and read again. As I suffer with depression, I believe that Karla's writings will help me deal with it. A Darkness Visable by William Syron has always been the most help to me in the bad times. THis book, with Karla's writings, has put a different outlook on mental illness in my opinion. I am just sorry she wasn't able to finish the book. It would have been amazing.
An excellent book!!!!!
Take care, TJ
