This is the 4TH book in the Emerson Dunn mystery series. I think this is an excellent mystery story with the added benefit of the main character being a Christian.

I've never claimed to be a great swimmer, but I'm hoping to rescue my friends Walter and Gunther Schmidt from a shark - a loan shark, that is. The Schmidts are owners of the very best (okay, the only) Mexican/German restaurant in my Texas home town. Times have been though, and they made the mistake of borrowing from the kind of men who never let you getthe loan paid off. I just hope I can help somehow.
Fortunately I have the help of two intriguing retirees. One is a former police detective and, incidentally, the father of my good buddy, Detective Sergeant Bill Singer. The other is an ex-mobster - "The Old Man" - who turned to God years ago but still feels the past tugging on his coattails. Unfortunately, the harder I try to lead my German pals out of their dilemma, the worse things get. And along the way I've uncovered an old murder mystery that has brought me face-to-face with a conclusion I really can't accept.
As if all that isn't enough to overtax my easily confused mind, I'm also dealing with the stress oozing so ominously from the major decisions being made by myself and one A. C. Remington, former rival reporter turned love-pumpkin. (Don't ever tell her I called her that - please!) My life is never boring.
Once again I, Emerson Dunn, star reporter and misadventurer, am helpless and confused and feeling like a long-tailed cat in a room full of rockers. Uh, God, I'm in another fix.
