Rye Forrester is on a mission. His drinking led to the death of a friend. Now he is looking for his friend's widow, to try to make up for his tragic mistake. Dulcie McDaniel is in a bind. Her drunken father was accused of a murder he didn't commit, taken from the jail and hanged. Now all she has left is her daughter and a broken down farm with no way of harvesting the crops. When Rye approaches her and offers to help her bring in her harvest, deciding to delay telling her the real reason he is here. But, secrets have a way of catching up with a person.

This was another wonderful book by this author. Both Rye and Dulcie are wounded souls who believe they don't deserve happiness. Their story has you rooting for the underdogs. Stories like this are why Maureen McKade is fast becoming one of my favorite authors. My rating: 4.5 Stars.
