This is a very good book, the characters are so well developed, the plot is intriguing. I highly recommend it.Judye.
His features were calm, quiet, and serene, in spite of everything. If he had not been so blatantly masculine, so disheveled and bruised, she might have said he was beautiful. His thick, nearly black hair had been brushed back carelessly except where it waved in rebellion just behind his ear, and the sharp angels and planes of the bone structure beneath his skin were clear and distinct. He was the most breathtaking dark angel Rilla had ever seen.
She couldnt think of why hed frightened her, why shed thought him wild. Sensing her stare, he glanced up and caught her looking at him. Then Rilla knew, and she recoiled in confused shock.
He had the eyes of a sinner.

Rilla Carrolls grandfather had been a Baptist preacher in Cade County. Jubal Kanes was a bootlegger. She marked time in a fancy boarding school; he served his in a Tennessee prison. They knew the rules; Carrolls and Kanes never mixed.
But that was before a secret love began to smolder in the dark- before obsession and hate kindled a deadly blaze. Before Jubal took Rilla's eye and her heart...and then considerably more.(copied from Book)
