The best part of this book for me is Marjorie's profession. I didn't know that there is (or was?) a separate person who wrote the indexes for books. That was so interesting to me, and seems like a clever way for her to figure out clues. The time period and rural setting also appealed to me. The mystery, not so much. I couldn't really fathom how the murderer went off the rails like that, and I had other questions about why things happened the way they did. IRL, not everything is explained but I think in a murder mystery you ought to have the odd bits wrapped up. I'm definitely willing to look for the next, though, because I did like Marjorie's voice and the setting very much.
