Joan West - Nemesis

Miss Marple is the recipient of an unusual bequest. Mr. Rafiel, an old acquaintance, has left instructions for her to investigate a crime after his death. The only problem is he has failed to tell her who was involved, or where, or when the crime was committed...

Mr. Rafiel first appeared in A Caribbean Mystery published in 1964. Although Nemesis should not be seen as a sequel to A Caribbean Mystery, they do complement one another. Nemesis was the last novel Christie would write about Miss Marple, although two other Marple books would be published after Christies death Sleeping Murder (1976) and Miss Marples Final Cases (1979). Written in her eighties, Nemesis proved that Dame Agatha had not lost her crime writing powers. The novel was adapted for the screen by the BBC in 1987 starring Joan Hickson and was also shown in the USA on PBS. In 2007 Geraldine McEwan appeared as Miss Marple in the ITV version.
