Book Review of How to Make Upside-Down Dolls

How to Make Upside-Down Dolls

Helpful Score: 2

It says in the beginning: "Here are the famed upside-down dolls of the mountain craftsmen of North Carolina-- with complete directions, dozens of how-to diagrams, patterns and photographs showing each doll in glowing color-- imaginative toys to make for a favorite child. Each doll is a cast of characters in itself: Flip Little Red Riding Hood upside-down and you'll find Grandmother and the Wolf." That gives you a good idea of what you'll find, but the only color photographs are in the center of the book showing the completed dolls. This book has clear, easy to understand instructions and patterns to make a variety of upside down dolls and their clothing. Great for storytelling! Included are: Cinderella, Stepmother and Stepsisters... Little Boy Blue and the Sheep.... Little Red Riding Hood, Grandmother and the Wolf... Mary and the Little Lamb... Goldilocks and the Three Bears... Mother Hubbard and her Dog... Little Miss Muffet and the Spider... Snow-White and the Seven Dwarfs... Peter, Peter and His Wife... Alice, the Mad Hatter and the March Hare. (I think the patterns could be fairly easily adapted to make even more dolls with a little creativity.)
