Kenny Mumford's wide, sightless eyes gazed up and out of his shroud of wet, green rockweed, on the beach at Prince's Cove.

Jacobia "Jake" Tiptree and Ellie White discover the body of Eastport, Maine's major bad boy on the beach. It looks like a drowning until you see the bullet hole in the forehead. Ellie and Kenny grew up together and she feels obligated to find out what happened to him. Jake moved to Eastport from New York to restore an old home. She gave up her lucrative career in money management to live in a small downeast Maine town. Jake becomes concerned when a former money mogul that she helped send to jail shows up in town. Two more murders and two million dollars point to him as a main suspect.

This was an enjoyable read. Jake is trying so hard to preserve her home and restore it to its original condition. She gets involved with the investigation to help her friend Ellie. Jake's ex-husband comes to town and causes problems for pretty much everyone. I enjoyed meeting the characters and felt they were well presented. I did not figure out the murderer until close to the end. I would read more in the series.
