I love reading about cons and trickery. It messes with my mind and I challenge myself to keep everything straight. With Deception, I really had to work hard to stay on top of everything. Sophia's dad was not a business man on the up and up. He had alot of shady dealings going on over the years and his deceit finally caught up with him. He ends up a hanged man, and with a bit of cleverness of her own, Sophia gets his ledger, where all of the shady transactions are recorded.

Kier was the victim of a shady deal and he means to have his revenge. He's been seeking the ledger as well, so when he runs into Sophia, a romance from his past, things become to heat up. They put their two heads together - keeping her alive from those that would wish her harm (She is her father's daughter and does have the ledger), and for Kier to extract his revenge. What they don't plan on, though, is falling for one another all over again.

Deception is a stellar romance with elements of suspense and clever dialogue. As I said previously, I was challenged to keep up with the trickery and cons but I highly enjoyed myself. I wish we had known Sophia and Kier in their past to know what their new relationship is based upon previously, but it is what it is. The writing is splendid and the action and character dialogue kept me engaged in the story. Danger, sizzling passion and dark secrets set the tone for this historical romance. You won't want to miss it!
