This is a fun adventure read where brainy magic and girl power triumph over manly brawn, and friendship and ingenuity are as valuable as honor and nobility. A pair of young friends battle against evil forces while upholding Acts from the Noble Deeds and Duties guide (i.e. "Beware Danger, not the Unknown" and "Appreciate the Giver More than the Gift"). Magic is used, evil forces vanquished and rescues are made, all in the course of an exciting adventure. The bad guys are spooky, but not so scary as to give nightmares to young readers. Highly recommended.
