She appeard to be walking on water - a haunting apparition that emerged out of the morning mist of a small Irish costal town. But American art dealer Evangeline Walter was no apparition. She was dead...and brutally bound to a tree at water's edge.
This town's only policeman, Garda Sergeant Francis Recaldo wuit the Dublin police force to get away from things like this. Now, he finds himself digging up details of the victim's private life. Details that could incriminate his friends and neighbors. Recalda on the other hand, has a few indiscretions of his own to hide - including his affair with a married woman whom he loves deeply...
