This version was published in 1986. It was almost a "to do manual" for me when my son was little. He's now 16, so I guess the information was correct! This book helped keep my panic level "oh no he looks like he is coming down with something!" down. :) There will be some recent changes in pediatric care since this was published, for example the Chickenpox vaccine was nowhere around then, but the majority of the information is very valuable. From the back of the book:

Dr. Mom is in real life Dr. Marianne Neifert, an award-winning pediatrician, professor of pediatrics, and mother of five children. Her unique infant and child-care guide provides an A-Z encyclopedia of childhood illnesses plus sensitive advice on day-to-day and emergency baby care and other important concerns of today's families. Reassuring and supportive, the indispensable Dr. Mom covers every aspect of parenting and child care - from conception to age five: understanding medical symptoms, basic baby care, discipline, child development, toilet training, and choices and challenges.

The funny thing about this whole baby-raising experience is that I am an RN ~ but everything I learned in nurses training and in working with pediatric patients just flew out of my head when it involved my son!
