Francesca Marinelli, reluctant vampire (turned in 1802) was buried for 204 years and is learning to "live" and survive in current times. The Vampire Protection Agency insists on vampire sponsors and implanted tracking devices. It is a very vampire enlightened time. Since Francesca's unveiling she has become the toast of St. Augustine and she has just started a job as a tour guide for a local ghost tour company. She has repeat customers - Shalimar, Gomer Pyle, Stony and a French couple. Not their real names, of course, but Francesca is nothing if not funny.

One of the tour guests is found murdered and bitten. Francesca is the prime suspect. Deke Saber, a preternatural crimes special investigator is assigned her case. They join forces to unravel the mystery. Of course, there must be danger to Francesca as well so enter the Covenant and Victor Gorman. Vampire hunters intent on stopping Francesca from inflicting her presence on others.

This is a light, fluffy and funny tale with no real depth just surface humor. A good quick read and a good start to the series. Very likable characters and a little bit of Florida historical data. I do like her friends and roommates Maggie and Neil. These two are a couple and spend a lot of time fighting good-naturedly
