Expert kayaker Jolie Sheridan returns to the small town of Dew Drop, Texas, following an accident on some whitewater rapids that nearly drowned her. She's a teacher, and wants to work at the McDermott ranch, which is a working dude ranch that assists troubled youth. However, she's hired by the father of Morgan McDermott, her former fiance, who is none too thrilled to see her.

Jolie connects with her students, the boys at the ranch, almost too easily. She tries to reconnect with Morgan, who brushes her off in the politest way imaginable: "I've always loved you, Jolie. Always will. But you can't walk away and walk back in again whenever you feel like it." Trust issues aside, Jolie wonders if she's meant for teaching or for kayaking professionally again.

The quirky residents of Dew Drop get irritating after a while. And for a book with "unforgettable" in its title, I didn't remember much about either Morgan or Jolie after reading it. It's a nice clean romance, but that's about it.
