The story starts out with Kojima wanting to see Nakahara's smile. Kojima is a kind, cheerful kid and hates to see someone as an outcast and tries to bring Nakahara into his group. Nakahara has a number of problems that Kojima doesn't get to know until a school trip where Nakahara is trying to run away from home, the latest of many previous attempts. Unknowingly Kojima stops this from happening but does find out a lot of Nakahara's home life and they do become friends. He lets Nakahara come to his house and get to see how a good family acts and a safe place for Nakahara to go.

This really is a very good story. Their relationship slowly becomes more intimate but Kojima is a bit flustered about what to do. There are two other volumes which add to the story and shows how much each loves and worries about the other. Nakaharas' home life does get a little be better by the end of vol 3 but it is not a perfect family by any means. But he has Kojima by his side and he becomes a much happier person and much more mature by the end. Read this and the other two volumes, you will love it if you like a really good story.
