I read this book out of curiosity. I am not a fan of Ann Rice, but after hearing about this trilogy of hers for so long I wanted to know what the fuss was about. I think it is very over rated.
This is not a fiction book, it is erotica. The whole of the plot is about the sexual events of a world ruled by a BDSM empire, who enslaves people at will for their sadistic sexual pleasure. There is no real love, no romance, and hardly any consent. They just are sexual slaves because they are given no other choice. Even those who are in the BDSM world have choices when it comes to their relationships and laisons. But not in this monstrosity.
Again, there is no action in this book that does not directly related to the sexual slavery and BDSM. The frame of the story is that the prince of the great kingdom takes Beauty, not as his wife, but as his sex slave. Everything else is just pain and fucking. If there was any story line that did not revolve around sex and pain being pleasure, then perhaps this book would have some redeeming value. But there isn't, and it has none.

So, if you are into, or are curious about, sexual slavery with BDSM then I recommend this book for your reading pleasure.

If you would like to read a good story, that has romance or some well written and relevant sex, then this is NOT the book for you (save your swapping points for something better).
