Book Review of Guilty Pleasures (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, Bk 1)

Guilty Pleasures (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, Bk 1)
reviewed Title and cover much steamier than the book - which is okay on + 10 more book reviews

I really enjoyed this book. I started reading Anne Rice in high school and wasn't aware that there were so many authors writing vamp novels until viral marketing was going on for the first season of HBO's TrueBlood. From there, I found Charlain Harris' great series on Sookie Stackhouse. Like Harris, Hamilton's imaginary world is one in which vampires are known to exist to the general public.
Anita is a well developed character, but I lost track of some of the supporting cast. Since the original copyright is in 1993 and I read it in 2009, some of the technology is dated, but that is easy to overlook. The storyline is good and is from a first person point of view, which I enjoy.
I am looking forward to reading the subsequent novels.
