A different take on zombie/vampires who are scary as all get out. I had some issues with the book because the cover image makes it look like a dystopian with lots of army/armed forces fighting book. I love those. But this is more in the paranormal romance genre which I also enjoy, but felt tricked into. grrr.
Lots of action, lots of relationship/jealousy/snark. The one thing about the romance is it felt a tiny bit forced (and maybe I was still mad about the switcheroo of the cover?) but I did roll my eyes a few times. Actually, during most arguments and major manipulations it didn't feel real. Not sure what was missing for me though. I really enjoy Nelson's Wish Bound series, which is silly and paranormal and action filled, I should have expected that with a different setting and would have been happier.
What I loved was Amy, she was the best drawn character from the second half of the book, the Egyptian angle, and the Aunt.
