This is a high-interest adaption of the Shakespearian play, Romeo and Juliet. Retaining the spirit of the original, its themes, plot, and characters can be understood by a wider range of students. The publisher recommends it for grades 6-12. This "retelling" is great for older below-grade-level readers, those who are not interested in Shakespeare's writings, student's with comprehension difficulties. It is also great for younger readers, who want an introduction to Shakespeare, such as gifted elementary/middle schoolers. In addition to the play itself, this book has background information on the characters and theater, and a synopsis of each scene. I highly recommend this book.
