Book Review of It Must've Been Something I Ate: The Return of the Man Who Ate Everything

The second collection by The Man Who Ate Everything. I think they are named backwards--while he spent most of that book eating normal stuff, he spent a good chunk of the start of this one eating really strange things all over the world!

This book took a while to get started. About a quarter of the way through I told my father-in-law I had it but wasn't giving it to him (I did the last one) because it was only kinda good, not really good. It promptly started getting better, of course.

He hits his entertaining stride (I still don't plan on making any of his recipes) partway through. The earlier essays have their points, some are good, they are interesting, but as a whole the latter sections of the book are better. I really enjoyed his steak discussion.

Well worth reading. I do enjoy this author's view of the world, even if I think he downplays allergies and intolerances a bit much.
