Apparently this short novel is based on the screenplay for a TV show (which I hadn't known before I read it.)
Naive young researcher trips into a world of eco-terrorists whose tactics run to the radical and lethal; she gets set up to take the fall for a murder.
It's pretty much a formula story, with stock characters, but a nice, light read. Lots of loose ends are left at the end of the story, so this must have been an early episode.

From back cover: Stripped of everything, 48 surviviors of Oceanic Flight 815 find themselves stranded on a tropical island. This band of friends, family, enemies, and strangers must work together to stay alive. But the island isn't going to make it easy for them...
As an evvironmentalist, Faith Harrington could be one of the biggest assets for the group's survival. But the events that lead her to board Flight 815 have left her wracked with guild and self-doubt.
As Faith reflects on the incidents from her past, she'll have to deal with the present reality of being surrounded by strangers in a hostile new environment.
Will this mysterious new world offer Faith anopportunity to start over? Or will she fall victim to one of the island's deadly perils?
