I'm not quite sure about this one. On the one hand, I found it a mostly interesting fast YA read with some really good descriptions, a good background story, and a 17-yr-old protagonist who's spent most of her life trying to blend into the wallpaper. And she's keeping at bay the desire to cut herself. On the other hand, the plotline of the story was predictable, the villain over-the-top horrible, and while this wraps up the initial story, it irritatingly is the start of a series or at least needs a sequel. The plot of which can be clearly seen, at least if you've read this genre before.
If it had been a stand-alone I'd keep it, for the imagery and the 160-year-old dog (Walton definitely needs to write more about the dogs.) Not to mention that this edition of the book is gorgeous, with the black background, poison green artwork and red-edged pages. But I'm reading so many series now I just can't face adding yet another.
