Book Review of Mythology of the American Indians

Mythology of the American Indians
Isabel-Batteria avatar reviewed Actual is good, but some missing on + 70 more book reviews

Divided into North American, Mesoamerican, and South American mythology. Then, entries are alphabetically listed. Beautifully illustrated. Maps.

But the Caribbean is missing. The Caribbean had very important societies that probably weren't documented because they were not as greatly developed as the great pre-Columbine civilizations. Caribbean Indians like Tainos and Caribes are thought to come from Venezuela by canoe, so I checked to see what South American Indians were discussed in the book. I checked the maps. The book concentrates on the Andean region, nothing more. So that is missing from the book.

But if you are interested in the mythologies of the many North American nations, the varied Central American indians, or the interesting Andean cultures, this is your book. Everything seems to be there.
