This is a novelization of an animated "Dr. Who" adventure broadcast on the Internet back in 2003 (and still available for viewing, last I checked), starring Richard E. Grant. Landing in the Lancaster town of Lannet, the Doctor finds himself fighting, with the help of a local young woman, the Shalka, a ferocious alien race intent on conquering the Earth through an insidious plot using deadly sound waves. The writing of the book is a tad clunky, but the adventure is rousing and intriguing enough to make up for that. The book also includes a "making of" essay on the animated adventure and Paul Cornell's original script outline, which in some respects differs rather strikingly from the finished product. (Cornell also did the novelization.)
