This book reminds me of the Dear America books that I enjoyed reading when I was younger. Hattie's story is told from her point of view, and we see the world, and the times that she lives in from that perspective.

If you are looking for a book that falls within the Pre-Teen category, and mixes historical facts with fiction then this may be the book for you. It is a story of heartache, friendship, and ultimately the end of one adventure, and then beginnings of another.

Fans of Laura Ingalls Wilder should give it a go.

This book is just the start of Hattie's adventures. Hattie's adventures continue in Hattie On Her Way and Secrets of Greymoor.

As listed above in the description of the book, I would also say that this book would be best suited for those in 4th - 7th grade.
