An American couple is coaxed by a friend to buy a house on the French island of Kerbordardoue. The couple arrives at the island finding the house dilapidated, needing much repairs. Realizing they have an enormous task before them, they begin the rebuilding process intermittently over the span of many years. The author writes about the struggles of rebuilding, as well as the adventures he, his wife and son experience on their visits to the French island. The book shares another culture, the experiences of an American couple on the island, meeting people who become friends, as well as the challenging ones. A great read.
