This is not a tender romance, but is rather in the tradition of Sweet Savage Love -- a hero from the outside of society, who treats the convent-bred heroine quite roughly throughout 2/3 of the story. Only in the last four chapters or so, does Dominic begin to show Marisa some tenderness. Just be warned, this is a somewhat typical '80's historical romance with lots of conflict between the hero/heroine and the heroine suffers a great deal (lots of it due to the hero's actions) before the end. In its favor, the story is involving, and thanks to little hints of a slightly better nature along the way, I can't totally despise Dominic for his behavior toward Marisa (even though he is often totally unreasonable!) Marisa always fights back, too; she's no doormat. I think 3 stars out of 5 is a fair rating.
