Maggie Newman, a beautiful, vivacious advertising executive, is working on the Playcraft account when she meets dashing young Peter Drexler, the head of the successful toy and game company. Enjoying the theater, fine restaurants, and each other's company, theirs seems to be a match made in heaven. But suddenly things start to fall apart. Peter begins to receive strange, hostile phone calls in the middle of the night. Then Maggie meets Gail McCabe, Peter's cold, elegant older sister. Her icy reception from Gail, and Peter's involvement in the games everyone seems to be plahing, convince Maggie that something is askew. But her love for Peter causes her to get sucked deeper and deeper into the dark deceptions of this family whose glittering veneer belies the evil secrets they hide inside. This is more than just mystery or suspense or horror--it is perceptive drama, a twisted and seductive love story, and above all a brilliant, terrifying novel.
