Wow! This one was just right for me. It's mildly humorous and witty, yet very compelling. I don't like the standard intense thrillers that become bestsellers. I want a more easygoing, normal tone to my stories. This one sounds like a story told by a good friend with self-deprecating humor and a relaxed voice. The story, however, builds and builds and is very, very good. It also helps that the main guy here is a lawyer without a billion-dollar practice--he's just a guy who muddles along. My wife is an attorney, and this is a lot closer to real life than the nonsense we see on TV and in legal bestsellers. Yet, even though real life is a lot more boring, the book is far from boring. It's hard to explain, but I loved this story and my wife is loving it right now as she reads it. I'm excited to read the next one in the series.
