A well-researched AND easy to read AND fascinating study into changing perceptions of women's bodies over the course of history. Tuana is aiming for an academic crowd, but plenty of the book is accessible to people with little formal background in this area of study. Tuana examines specific philosophers and physicians and medical theorists, showing why they thought what they thought... and it's a pretty wild read.

Would recommend especially for a college student who's interested in philosophy, religion, medicine, or women's/gender studies.
