Mary Connealy loves to write about strong women. Women who can out-hunt, out-shoot, and out-rope any man alive. Her heroines are vibrant, beautiful women who are not afraid to use the talents that God gave them even if the men in their lives do not understand them. This is what makes her books so riveting. Her humorous writing style along with her vivid descriptions that would leave Festus Hagan (of Gunsmoke fame) speechless are simply priceless. I have read the Lassoed in Texas series and the Montana Marriages series as well as Sophies Daughters. While all of these books are delightful, I must admit that I like Sophies Daughters best. Maybe its just because each book seems to get better than the last. I also think it has to do with the delightful way that the Sophie series neatly ties up all the loose ends and connects characters from all of the first books. If you love a good western, if you love a good love story, if you love humor and wit; you will love these books. Start at the beginning and read all nine books. By the time you are through you will be ready to rope a calf, shoot a grizzly, and read tracks like the written wordall while you build a house, plant a garden, raise six children and keep the gleam in your mans eye.
