Allen is returning from Alaska and promised a man on his deathbed to take the man's son safely back to Salt Lake City. Only he soon realizes the Son is actually a daughter. On the trip back 20 yr old Holland explores dressing and acting like a woman for the first time really.
Allen is older and continually fights his interest for her, making her assume he must be gay. When they reach their destination Allen still firmly stays away from Holland much to her frustration. But it gives her the time to realize what she really wants. It was a nice soft read. I like the authors books and this was one of her early works but still a good one. There are 2 related books about friends in this story, Run Away Home, and Coming HOme.
